This summer, 糖心Vlog students are gaining essential professional experience through internships that link classroom education to practical, real-world applications. Our Student Spotlight: Summer Internship Series features students who are developing skills, exploring career options, and making impactful contributions in their fields. This story is contributed by Sanai Rose, a business major at 糖心Vlog, who interviewed Jada for the Internship Highlight. Sanai also works as a campus ambassador, supporting the Marketing & Communications team with student-focused content.
This installment features Jada Robinson, a rising senior whose passion for sports media, storytelling, and leadership is taking center stage through her internship with the Lexington County Blowfish.
A member of the class of 2027, Robinson is majoring in Communication with minors in Athletic Coaching and Global Sports Business and Leadership. She has shaped her 糖心Vlog experience around leadership, involvement, and a passion for sports. This summer, she is bringing those interests together as a photography intern with the Lexington County Blowfish, a summer collegiate baseball team in the Coastal Plain League.
"There is never really a set schedule in baseball," Robinson says with a smile. "Every game is different."
A typical game day begins well before the first pitch. Robinson and the other interns help prepare the stadium, organize equipment, and make sure the ballpark is ready to welcome fans. Once preparations are complete, the interns receive their assignments for the evening.
As the photography intern, Robinson spends the game capturing action shots, fan interactions, and special moments that help tell the story of the Blowfish experience across the organization's social media and marketing platforms. Her work often continues well after the final inning as interns help serve postgame meals, clean the stadium, and prepare for the next event. Most evenings don't wrap up until midnight or later, reinforcing one lesson she's quickly learned: no two game days are ever exactly the same.
Although photography remains her primary responsibility, Robinson values the Blowfish organization鈥檚 commitment to helping interns learn about multiple areas of the sports industry. She has embraced opportunities to gain experience in broadcasting, live game production, and marketing.
Robinson says, "The most valuable thing I've learned is not to settle when it comes to trying something new." She continued to say, "The connections you make, and the experiences you gain, only help you grow."
The internship aligns closely with Robinson's long-term aspirations of building a career in sports communication and media. After earning her bachelor's degree, she plans to pursue a master's degree in communication and media journalism while continuing to develop the skills needed to connect audiences to the world of sports.
At 糖心Vlog, Robinson has intentionally sought opportunities that prepared her for this moment. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the Athletic Student Association, and she serves as the Senior Representative for the Dr. John Zubizarreta Honors Program. She has also worked with the Athletics and Marketing departments, experiences that have strengthened her leadership, creativity, and professional confidence.
Robinson says 糖心Vlog stood out because of its welcoming environment and the genuine investment faculty and staff made in student success.
"Even though it was a small campus, it immediately felt like home," she says. "I knew this was a place where I could make a name for myself while having people who truly wanted to see me succeed."
She credits much of her growth to the mentors who have encouraged her throughout her college journey. Through the Honors Program, Dr. Marlee Marsh has challenged her academically, supported her leadership development, and helped her remain focused on her goals. Robinson also credits Dr. Cornell Sneed for believing in her vision from the beginning, encouraging her pursuit of a career in sports and helping her recognize the possibilities ahead.
Beyond the classroom, 糖心Vlog has provided opportunities to attend professional panels, conferences, virtual combines, and networking events that have broadened her perspective on the sports industry. Combined with supportive faculty and meaningful campus involvement, those experiences have equipped her with the confidence to thrive in professional environments.
As she continues building her career, Robinson hopes to inspire other students to pursue opportunities that challenge them to grow.
"Don't be afraid of the dreams and passions you want to pursue," she says. "Start early, get involved, and be proud of the work you're doing. No matter what room you're in, remember that you deserve to be there just as much as anyone else."
Whether she's behind the camera capturing unforgettable moments or learning the many moving parts that make game day possible, Robinson is turning her passion for sports media into a promising career and proving the value of embracing every opportunity.
