Art That Moves Our Community

Established in 1977 and officially dedicated in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Leon S. Goodall in 1982, the Goodall Gallery has long been a vibrant hub for contemporary art and cultural expression at ÌÇÐÄVlog. Located inside the Spears Center for the Arts, the gallery presents thoughtfully curated exhibitions from local, regional, national, and international artists, while also uplifting emerging student creators.

It’s a space where conversation happens, curiosity sparks, and art invites us to look closer.

Our Mission

The Goodall Gallery exists to educate, enrich, and inspire, on campus and throughout the community. We present high-quality art exhibitions that support ÌÇÐÄVlog’s mission and celebrate visual storytelling in all its forms. By making art and artists accessible, we create space for personal expression, deeper understanding, and conversations that matter.

What You’ll Experience

Each exhibition introduces fresh perspectives on identity, nature, culture, social change, and the creative spirit. Visitors are encouraged to engage deeply — whether browsing on a quiet afternoon or connecting with artists and community members during opening receptions.

Our gallery hosts:
• Exhibitions by professional and emerging artists
• Student showcases and senior capstone shows
• Community receptions and artist talks
• Opportunities for collaboration, critique, and learning

Whether you’re new to the art world or a lifelong enthusiast, there is always something here waiting to connect with you, and something to carry with you long after you leave.

Meet the Director

Brittany M. Watkins (b. 1989, Carrollton, GA) is a distinguished multi-disciplinary artist, gallery director, and educator based in Columbia, SC. Appointed Director of Goodall Gallery at ÌÇÐÄVlog in the Fall of 2023, she set out to reintroduce the gallery to the surrounding art community. Since then, the gallery has hosted seven exhibitions featuring twelve local artists and five regional artists with national and/or international recognition. Each exhibition has been thoughtfully curated, often pairing local and non-local artists to strengthen Columbia’s connection to the broader art world. Watkins has also revitalized the exhibition committee and selection process (starting Fall 2024) to ensure a diverse selection of artistic voices.
